How It All Began
The region around Mora has a long tradition of knife-making, with sharp knives being crafted for the rest of the world for about 400 years. The seed for what would become one of the world’s most beloved knife manufacturers was planted in 1891 when Frost-Erik Erson returned to his hometown of Östnor in Mora after four years working as a lumberjack in North America. That same year, he founded his vehicle factory, producing sleds, carts, and knives for the workshop’s internal use. At the time, resource conservation was essential, and making use of leftover materials from production was almost a given. This approach would prove to be a successful business idea.
